Poor But Sexy is a publication created by Ingrid Jones and Thomas Bollmann at Seed9. The magazine showcases new work by select artists.
Poor But Sexy - Volume II just launched and includes work by Westside photographer Vicky Lam. It’s available for purchase here.
Here’s what Vicky had to say about her series:
The theme of issue 2 is ACTION! As a still life shooter, the theme proved to be a challenge. I wanted to approach the theme differently. Rather than show actual motion, I wanted to play with the word itself. Inspired by designer and typographer Stefan Sagmeister and the lightheartedness of Sesame Street, this is my take on the theme of ACTION! It’s all about wordplay. Today’s images are brought to you by the word “action”.
I worked with the talented off-figure stylist Jeanie Lee from Plutino Group and was assisted by Nick Wong. This was really a fun shoot, and the only time I’ll ever photograph beans and toilet paper in one go. Random fact: we started with about 5 kg of gumballs only to realize we still didn’t have enough to fill the shot. In the end, we used almost 9 kg of gumballs!
