2009 Wrap-Up

A quick summary of what Westside accomplished in 2009:

We shot for big clients: 3M, Alexander Keith’s, Bell, BMW, Brock University, Budweiser, CIBC, Cogeco, Coors Light, Enbridge, Energizer, FedEx, Frito-Lay, George Brown, GMC, Harry Rosen, Home Depot, Infiniti, Kellogg’s, Kia, Kraft, Labatt, LCBO, Lexus, Mastercard, McDonalds, Mercedes-Benz, MGD, Molson, Nike, Nissan, Nova Scotia Tourism, PEI Tourism, Pepsi, Petro Canada, P&G, RBC, Reebok, Rogers, SC Johnson, Scotiabank, Smart Car, Subaru, TD Canada Trust, Tim Hortons, Virgin Mobile, Visa, Walmart

We worked in: Alberta, British Columbia, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Saskatchewan, Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, New York, South Carolina, Chile, Italy and Jamaica.

Two photographers joined the studio: Tyler Gray & Vicky Lam.

We hired a new photo agent: Keiko Twist.

Chris Gordaneer and his team travelled over 60,000 miles and worked on 3 continents.

Matt Barnes participated in Contact, directed Vaude-a-Villians, joined Radke Films and shot for Supercreative.

Frank Hoedl’s photography was well-received at the ADCC awards.

A number of Westside photographers are shooting motion and developing reels.

We redesigned our website and started to blog.

Our blog has received 13,500 visits since May.

We sponsored Portfolio Night and the Applied Arts Winners’ Exhibit.

We held demos for the Red Camera, Red Rock Micro and the 5D Mark II.

We improved our recycling program and started using biodegradable foamcore.

We shot for (or donated prints to): Alzheimer’s Association, Canadian Tire Jumpstart, Children of the Sun, Crimestoppers, Drawn To Develop, Earth Day Canada, Habitat For Humanity, Heart & Stroke Foundation, Looking Glass Foundation for Eating Disorders, Sick Kids, United Way and WWF Earth Hour.

We bought winter clothing and Christmas presents for a family-in-need.

Vicky Lam - Subaru Outback

Vicky Lam worked with Paul Riss at DDB on a new ad for the Subaru Outback. It appears in today’s Toronto Star.

The job was awarded, shot and delivered within 24-hours. Vicky skipped Westside’s Christmas party to make it happen.

Chris Gordaneer - Polaris

Chris Gordaneer worked on a new series of ads for Polaris with Ned Connolly (Creative Director) and Rob Lewis (Art Director) at Integer. The campaign was shot earlier this year in Northern California.

Chris Gordaneer - Tanzania

Chris Gordaneer travelled to Africa in 2006 to explore and document life in Tanzania.

Upon his return, Chris and his team organized a gallery show to benefit the World Wildlife Fund.

Vicky Lam has been invited to participate in Poor But Sexy - Volume II.

Poor But Sexy is a publication created by Ingrid Jones and Thomas Bollmann at Seed9. The magazine showcases and promotes new work by select artists.

Poor But Sexy - Volume II will be released in April 2010.
